New Sling

Grandma Laura grew up in Africa so she made a sling like the Africa women use. Ellie just loves hanging out with her grandma.

Home at last . . .

Yeah . . . we're home!!! Drew and I have been so excited to come home to Seattle that we couldn't sleep. Christmas is just the cherry on top!

Drew's parents and his sister Shaneen came over to my parents house for brunch on Saturday. It was the first time Auntie Shaneen met her neice. It was love at first sight.

All our friends have been so excited to meet Ellie. Our old friend, Myka, was a little nervous to hold a newborn but Ellie didn't seem to mind at all.

Today we had fun hanging out with Ellie in front of the fire. When we take her clothes off she kicks and giggles. She's just so cute.

We're on our way home to Seattle tomorrow! We can't wait to see our families and they can't wait to see Ellie (Drew and Donnianne who?).
Let's hope the plane ride goes well. With 4 bags of luggage, a carry on and Ellie our hands will be full!

Monkey Baby

I've been on the sling mission lately.

I have been looking for the perfect sling that is easy for me to put on by myself and for Ellie to easily nurse in. I have the Moby and the Ergo but I thought I should try out some other slings. So I spent the week researching dozens of slings and ended up buying the Maya, the New Native and The Hot slings. ALL have been returned. Turns out the best slings are the Moby and the Ergo.

I just can't get over how cute these two are together! Chewy crawls up in Ellie's bouncy seat every chance he gets . . . and he doesn't mind at all when Ellie joins him!

Winter Weather!

Brrrrr!! It's been so cold this week! Down in the 20's all week and now it's snowing! There were even icicles on our roof. Good thing Ellie has some warm clothes.

Happy Birthday Baby!

Elliott is 1 month old today!!!

We just finished up a photoshoot and we have decided that Ellie has found her voice. Last photoshoot, when she was just a few days old, she was so calm and mellow. Today, however, she decided to tell us that we were taking way too long and trying way too many poses.

We are just amazed at how fast Ellie is growing! She's got little rolls on her thighs and wrists and she's got a double (or triple) chin now too.

She's even holding her head up now!

Rock-a-by Baby

How do moms do this alone?? That is my question!!

It has been so good to have family here to help with dozens of diaper changes, calming Ellie, making food, doing laundry, cleaning the house and just keeping me company.

Here is a pic of my dad (Ba-Pop) rocking and singing to Ellie. Dad has this baby calming technique of saying the baby name over and over in a slow rhythm.

Snuggle Bunny

Ellie is growing! Her newborn diapers are getting snug and she is starting to get little rolls on her neck, wrists and thighs.

I don't want her to grow up!!! But I am excited for her to start smiling and cooing at us.

Zzzzzzz

Ellie is such a sweet baby. She had a few fussy nights last week (maybe our Thanksgiving feast was too rich for her) but otherwise she is just so laid-back.

She seems to be settling into a good night-time sleep pattern too!! She sleeps 3 hours between feeds and last night she even went 4 hours at one stretch. What a treat . . . 4 hours of sleep!!

We miss you, Daddy!

Drew had to leave yesterday to head over to Olympia for work. Luckily, he got in a quick nap before he left.

Ellie is under strict orders NOT to grow until Daddy gets back!
